Part Ⅱ

Part Two

The Internet has introduced all sorts of opportunities and threats to the media business. Jack Savage finds himself confronted with one of them. Across town a moderately successful used car dealer, whom Savage had somehow annoyed over the years, has struck a deal with PATCH, the AOL/Huffington Post small market spinoff, to offer an online product.

The new PATCH editor is a former sports writer for the Chronicle, Ralph Thornton. Thornton was a third string catcher in high school and always over weight. He did then and does now go by the nickname his grandmother hung on him, “Big Yummy”. Or so the story goes.
