Flywheel Flats is a small town in the southwestern United States. It is situated down a good road about 50 miles southwest of Cronkite City and refers to itself simply as “The Flats”. The Flats is serviced by a small daily, “The Roundup”
Part One
- Jack Savage has been publisher of the Flywheel Flats Roundup for as long as anyone can remember. He’s not really that old, he’s just been at the newspaper since high school. First as a carrier kid, then a rookie reporter and so on .
- As with most dailies in today’s media world, The Roundup has been faced, not so much with declining readership, but declining sales. Advertisers are also wrestling with a myriad of new options to reach the consumer and they too, are searching for the most effective and efficient way to touch their customers.
- The Roundup has reduced its workforce also. Its costs are in line with its revenues with a resulting modest profit.
